Calyx & Corolla markets fresh flower arrangements via mail-order catalog, Mount Eden Growers supplies the flowers, and FedEx delivers the orders. The growers gain a new profit source and an unheard-of steady demand for their product, FedEx penetrates the perishable-goods shipping market, and Calyx & Corolla's profits grow by meeting customers' demand for quality, speed and convenience. [v. 2.] In search of alternative sources of revenue to supplement waning public and private grants for medical education and research, Mayo Clinic established Mayo Medical Ventures and teamed up with Interactive Ventures Incorporated to open up a new consumer market for information delivery by CD-ROM. Mayo publications in print form were transformed into interactive CD-ROM products. [v. 3.] Examines the marriage of Corning's glass technology and Samsung's manufacturing to produce specialty glass for television sets, emphasizing an international partnership
