  • Descrição: Urban planning & urban sociology refer to arrangement of social living conditions & coordination of space in modern cities. The need to introduce humanistic ideas into building construction was first pointed out by W. Morris. He opposed 'luxurious architecture' earmarked for the social elite & urged the building of cheaper accommodations for workers. His ideas influenced F. Wright & W. Gropius & inspired the planners of 'socialist cities' & 'mini-flats' for workers. Le Corbusier supported a coordination of urban planning & sociology. Planning programs must be the joint work of architects & social scientists, reflecting an analysis of diverse indicators, eg, technical, economic, & social. Modified HA.
