  • Descrição: Optical basicities and O ls core spectra of alkali silicate, sodium phosphate, and sodium borate glasses were measured by optical absorption of Pb2+ probe ions and XPS measurements, respectively. Different chemic∼ sites of oxygen atoms in glasses BO, NBO, and DBO could be distinguished in O l s spectra, and they changed their shapes and shifted to lower energy side with increasing alkali components. Energy values at the center of the gravity in 01s spectra of glasses (EG) decreased with increasing their optical basieites (Λm). As in the case of the probe ions, their relation suggests that O ls spectra gives a scale for measuring the degree of electric donation oxygen; the optical basicity. The relation of EG vs. Λm, however, still has a problem in showing some differences depending on the various glass systems.
