Descrição: This present work aims to relate the influence of public opinion and its genesis in the control of female body. This article is going to use the socio-historical aspect of formation of public opinion and the construction of the collective imaginary concerning the feminine behavior. The intent of this work is to analyze the issue of symbolic violence present in the structure of public opinion; for such reflection two examples of social surveys concerning the female body will be used.
