  • Descrição: Necessity-namely, competition from the film industry, the growing popularity of horror films, and the perhaps concomitant coarsening of audience taste-seems to have been the mother of invention. Pounded by visual and auditory effects designed to draw them into a universe of mystery, mayhem, and horror, spectators must surely have been drained by the time the show reached its denouement- not, however, too drained to commit violent acts: agnostic rowdies punched more than one phosphorous-painted volunteer in the face.
