  • Descrição: IBM seems to be sending out mixed messages on its commitment to Systems Application Architecture (SAA). This matches the mixed idea of what most people think SAA is and does. Since it was introduced in Mar 1987, SAA has been described as a collection of protocols, interfaces and standards that will enhance the consistency of IBM software products. It was advertised as a patent medicine that would solve all problems. Gradually SAA began to drop into the background of news releases about other enhancements, such as the Communications Programming Interface, OS-2 Extended Edition, and Enterprise Systems Architecture (ESA). SAA appears to have evolved into several different things, not the least of which is ESA commitment at the mainframe level.
