Title:
A Construção da teoria de Projecto em Étienne - Louis Boullèe e Aldo Rossi
Author:
Daniela de Sá Pinto Marques
Description:
This study aims to analyse the hypothesis of Theory of Project in two architects - Étienne-Louis Boullée (1728-1799) and Aldo Rossi (1931-1997) - understood as di"erent settings of a same problem: the de!nition of an idea of Project in a disciplinary deadlock. Therefore, this investigation takes as central object the texts that each wrote about their own work - Architecture. Essay on Art (c.1799), from É.-L. Boullée, and A Scienti!c Autobiography (1981), by A. Rossi. Distant in two centuries, they meet under the evidence with which they put the question to themselves: How did I do some of my projects? The construction of a Theory of Project can be read in the advances in front of that question, and in the will with which they are addressed to the collective, to the discipline, to the very idea of Project. This study is divided into two parts. The !rst one is dedicated to the understanding the deadlock that, in the late eighteenth and twentieth centuries, can be taken as disciplinary crisis frames. In them, the importance of the presence of Boullée and Rossi is described through key episodes whose controversies marked the paths of the discipline to the present day. The second part analyses the proposal, that is, the texts where one risks to understand the inevitable leap of Project and the Discipline itself.
