  • Descrição: The extent of the validity of the Rayleigh—Debye—Gans theory when applied to fiber-like particles is discussed. It is shown that the theory can be used to obtain information on the diameter and aspect ratio distribution functions of aligned UICC anthophyllite fibers by fitting experimental results by V. Timbrell ( Microscope 20, 365 (1972)). The determination of the same distribution functions by fitting preliminary experimental results by this author for randomly oriented fibers is also discussed.
