  • Descrição: This work investigates the use of ionic liquids (IL) as solvents in separations. In the first part of this work, the 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, [Bmim][Cl], was synthesized in a glass reactor. In the second part, the experimental study was carried out (binodal curve and tie-lines), analysis of the quality of the experimental data and thermodynamic modeling of n-butyl acetate + n-butanol + [Bmim][Cl] systems at temperatures of 298.15 and 308.15 K and pressure of 101.3 kPa. Experimental results indicate that the system, mentioned above, has liquid-liquid fluid phase of type I. Quality test was performed using the Marcilla and collaborators’ method and the Non Random Two-Liquids (NRTL) model was used to model the liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) of the ternary system. Low deviations, in the compositions of both liquid phases, indicate that the NRTL model was able to model the phase behavior of the n-butyl acetate + n-butanol + [Bmim][Cl] system using the gamma-gamma approach.
