  • Descrição: In this research we compared rhythmic parameters of human body temperature simultaneously measured with digital thermometers and thermistors with memory (Thermochron iButtons ). Thirteen volunteers (four men and nine women) measured oral and axillary temperatures with digital thermometers every hour during wakefulness for two days and for every three hours for three days, totalling five consecutive days. Concomitantly, they wore badges with thermistors in the thorax and the wrist. The thermistors (Thermochron®) used in this work are designed to store the data collected in a memory (up to 2048 data). An interface allows for programming of data collection intervals and data download. Rhythmicity is evaluated with the Cosinor technique. Acrophases average 17:32h±2:02h for the axillary temperature, 10:12h±7:26h for the thoracic temperature,17:18h±00:50h for the oral temperature and 4:15h±1:55h for the wrist temperature. The collection of temperature data in humans, generally performed with digital thermometer, is restricted to the waking phase and depends on the discipline of the volunteer. Telemetry devices, besides their high cost, is subject the diverse types of interferences. With the results found in this work we suggest that the use of the thermistor with memory be adopted as alternative methodology for studies of the rhythmicity of the peripheral body temperature in humans, especially recommended for studies of extensive temporal series.
