  • Descrição: Taneyev sets the entire Aeschylus trilogy- that is, the events before and after Strauss's Elektra. This makes Clytemnestra, for example, a more sympathetic figure. She murders Agamemnon not merely for a bit of adulterous slap and tickle but because he sacrificed their daughter Iphigenia to the gods for safe voyage to the Trojan War. The action in Act II is similar to Strauss's, except that at the end the Furies pursue Orestes for matricide.
