Descrição: The paper presents a bibliographical review that supports the proposal of an educational strategy to strengthen the competence of teaching self-care to patients with Diabetes Mellitus II in undergraduate students of Nursing at the Autonomous University of Guerrero. The importance of the development of the educational strategy aimed at improving the process of nursing care in terms of individualized care for patients with this condition for the training of students of the Bachelor of Nursing is highlighted.
