Descrição:
How do Indonesian politicians win elections? What appeals do they use to convince voters, and what sorts of networks, machines and organisations do they rely upon in order to reach out to them? In particular, to what extent do candidates win voters’ support by distributing cash, goods and other benefits, and to what extent are these strategies supplemented (or replaced) by other appeals, whether they be programmatic, charismatic or identity-based? This book sets out to answer these questions by way of a series of local case studies of grassroots electioneering across Indonesia in the lead-up to the 2014 legislative elections.
