Descrição: This article aims to analyse the recent transformations of Avenida Paulista (Paulista avenue), in the city of Sao Paulo: banning the circulation of vehicles on Sundays, cultural and countercultural manifestations, new cultural equipment and bicycle path. To that end, the concepts of Paideia, Playful centrality, Play, Homo-ludens, Drifts, Situation Construction, Vita activa, Right to the city, Mixofilia and Ambulation will be revisited in the context of the Cultural and Countercultural Revolution of the 1960s and its legacy on avenue. The study was conducted from 2016-2019, when several field observations, photographic reports and documentary review were carried out in transdisciplinary bibliographic sources. The article discussed the legacy of Generation AI-5 or May 68 in theory and urban praxis. It presented some innovative aspects in the enjoyment of public space and urban play and showed the avenue like an example of playful centrality so necessary for metropolises.
