Cumulates with added indexes and appendices, the irregularly published: Philosophical transactions. Filmed against T154206. Originally edited by Henry Oldenburg, later by N. Grew, R. Plot, W. Musgrave, R. Waller, Sir H. Sloane, E. Halley, and C. Mortimer. Since March 1752 publication has been supervised by a committee of the Royal Society. Some imprints include year of publication in roman or arabic. Imprints vary; on some early issues printer's initials change to "T.R."; in 1667 James Allestry's name appears; 1683-1685 the place of printing is given as Oxford; later imprint names include: Moses Pitt, Sam. Smith, Hen. Clements, Benj. Walford, J. Streater, Wm. Innys, D. Brown, T. Woodward, Lockyer Davis, C. Reymers, Peter Elmsley. Individual issues or 'transactions' within the journal are numbered and dated, with caption titles, contents notes, and dated colophons. Most of them were separately published. Transactions include essays on the natural sciences, reports prepared for the Society, results of experimental research, and speculative essays on scientific topics.
