  • Descrição: The article examines prosecution practices for counterrevolutionary crimes in the RSFSR during the Great Patriotic War. The author uses "Books of Remembrance" on political terror victims and data from investigative files as the main source of biographical information about these victims. The data from the "Books of Remembrance" provide a different periodization of wartime repressions for three groups of regions depending on their position on or behind the front line. The author infers from the "Books of Remembrance" that the social profile of terror victims was different early in the war. Social origin and a non-Soviet political past were some of the reasons for charging a person with anti-Soviet agitation, but were not the main basis of charges, as was the case in the "kulak operation" during the Great Terror. During the war, however, people were charged for their statements or actions, not because of their origin or political past. Most wartime terror victims were labor workers and kolkhozniks, 'declassed elements' represented a very low percentage of all the convicts, and non-labor elements were a majority in Supreme Court statistics only.
