Descrição: This paper describes some pertinent connections between attempts to characterize 'narrative' and 'discourse' in relation to psychoanalytic clinical practice. Concepts from Lacan's Seminar XVII are elaborated with reference to the particular problematic opened by the accounts of infantile sexual theories described by Freud. In doing so the places and terrns within discourse that are set out by Lacan are supplemented with narrative notions
