  • Descrição: The paper completes the results achieved within the framework of the APVT-51-0178/04 project on "Prediction of the land use change impact on stream water quantity and quality for integrated water resources management and planning". In the project, the impact of land use changes on a hydrological regime was analyzed in several pilot basins (Hron, Ipel', Slana and Rimava). This paper supplements the results published in Hlavcova, et al. (2005, 2006), with the Poprad River basin. The impact of land-use changes on the runoff regime in the Poprad River basin was estimated with an emphasis on the parameterization of the land cover properties in a runoff simulation. The land use changes connected to agricultural and forest management were expressed by several scenarios. FRIER, a spatially distributed physically-based hydrological model, developed within the framework of the project was applied to simulate runoff under unchanged and changed land use conditions. The effect of the changes on surface runoff, interflow, base flow and total runoff in the basin's outlets was compared and discussed.
