Descrição: Apatite is a group of isomorphous hexagonal minerals, the two main types being fluorapatite (Ca5(PO4,CO3,OH)3(F,OH)) and hydroxyfluorapatite (Ca5(PO4)3(F,OH)). The world's leading producer in 1999 was the USA (41.5m tonnes, 30% of world production), followed by Morocco (24m tonnes), China (20m tonnes) and Russia (11m tonnes). Over 90% of phosphate production is used for fertilisers.
