  • Descrição: Astrostatistics is a field that seeks to develop and employ statistical methodology for problems in astronomy, astrophysics, and cosmology. Owing to the complexities of our Universe and the increasing quantity and quality of data, astrostatistics inference problems are becoming increasingly complex and high‐dimensional, requiring advanced statistical methods. This article touches upon two areas of statistics that have had fruitful applications in astronomy: hierarchical Bayesian modeling and topological data analysis.
