  • Descrição: The file presented here is a 3D model file containing data produced from both diceCT and histological datasets. This file is specific to the fiber tracts utilized by the thalamofugal visual processing pathway. There are a number of primary tracts used by this system such as the anterior commissure, lateral forebrain bundle, supraoptic decussation, corticoseptomesencephalic tract, optic tract and many more. Additionally, we have created representations of projections between several of the thalamofugal nuclei that don't necessarily use a designated fiber tract. In total we present the fiber connections between 10 unique nuclear structures occupying several distinct brain regions. This 3D model of the thalamofugal fiber system is the most exhaustive to date in any avian species to our knowledge. This model is particular to the chicken but can technically represent the bulk of avian species (i.e. laterally-eyed birds) though you will likely see species specific differentiation. The attached files include 2 preview snaps of the 3D reconstruction from a sagittal and top down view (PNGs) and the 3D model file (.blend file) that can be viewed using the free Blender software.
