  • Descrição: The article that I have the honor to comment on in this edition of the Anais do Museu Paulistait outlines, in a clear and articulated way, a history that is at the same time objective and panoramic of the relations between anthropology and museums, from the 19th century to the present day. Author Camilo de Mello Vasconcellos recovers converging processes that both the anthropological discipline and museum institutions have gone through. If, during the lifetime of the evolutionist and positivist paradigms, both were guided by Eurocentric and unilinear views of history and by a colonialist posture, today, on the contrary, quite interesting dialogic experiments are underway, such as those described in the last part of Vasconcellos' article. , dedicated to shared curatorship between the Museum of Archeology and Ethnology of the University of São Paulo (MAE USP) and the indigenous peoples represented there.Vasconcellos emphasizes that, in recent decades, there has been a rapprochement between anthropologists, museums and exhibitions. In fact, I observe that several anthropologist colleagues have embarked on the adventure of curating, for which we are not, in principle, trained.
