  • Descrição: Single file, like Bushmen, we walk the dry river bed. The sun breaks the news that the Earth has turned again. On a bend with a giant jackalberry tree, a male chacma baboon, powerful and bold, appears on the bank to analyze our approach; he raises his head to wait for our scent. He knows it, but shows no fear. He examines us minutely before returning to the bush and his hidden family. We are 40 yards distant and 4 million years apart, yet the kinship is real in this early African morning.
