  • Descrição: We investigated differences in the agnostic behavior of worker ants of a leaf-cutting species when they were carrying or not carrying leaves. We found, both in the field and in the laboratory, that workers with leaves were more aggressive than those without leaves. However, we found that, in nature, some subjects without leaves reacted more aggressively than did any subjects in the laboratory. We discuss these results in terms of differences in laboratory and field conditions, motivational theory and hierarchies of activity
