  • Descrição: This article intends to "explore" some explanations for the lack of success of "open plan schools" in Portugal. More than telling the history of this kind of schools, the pretension was to illustrate the difficulties and, in some way, the reasons that led into the radical transformation of the physical and pedagogical space originally proposed for this educational organizations. The article points out some causes of this apparent failure (lack of stability of the teaching teams, excessive number of students per teacher, inexistence of pilot experiences).
