  • Descrição: Fibrinolysis occurred over incompletely keratinized epithelium, as shown by Mallory connective tissue stain; fibrinolysis never occurred over completely keratinized epithelium such as the hard palate and gingiva. Both saline and potassium thiocyanate extracts of incompletely keratinized epithelium showed fibrinolytic activity when examined by the fibrin plate technique; although potassium thiocyanate extracts of completely keratinized hard palate epithelium showed fibrinolytic activity, saline extracts showed none. The results indicate that fibrinolytic autography only demonstrates a saline-extractable activator which is absent or present in relatively small amounts in completely keratinized epithelium.
