Descrição: This paper presents some characteristics of the direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) process and applications of this technology in the Slovenian tool-making industry. Research is focused on micro-structural and morphological analyses of the metal powders and subsequent chemical, micro-structural and mechanical characterizations of the DMLS products, with the aim to find the proper surface finishing and coatings to improve the thermal and wear characteristics of the laser sintered products.
