  • Descrição: ABSTRACT IN FRENCH: La figure comique de l'homme rural paulista a surgi pour la première fois au théâtre, dans les Comédias de Martins Pena, au milieu du XIXe siècle. Cependant, c'est le personnage de Jeca Tatu, créé par Monteiro Lobato en 1914 qui finit par fixer l'image du caipira de l'État de São Paulo. Ce personnage deviendra plus populaire encore à la fin des années 50, avec sa transposition au cinéma par Amácio Mazzaropi. Malgré les années, le caipira Jeca Tatu reste très vivant dans la culture brésilienne. En 2006 un hommage lui a été rendu à travers le film Tapete Vermelho. // ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH: The comic figure of the paulista peasant appeared for the first time in the scene in the Martins Pena's Comédias, in the middle of the 19th century. Nevertheless, it's the character named Jeca Tatu, created by Monteiro Lobato in 1914 who truly fixed the image of the São Paulo's state caipira. This character will be even more popular at the end of the fifties, when it was transposed to the cinema by Amácio Mazzaropi. In spite of the years, the caipira Jeca Tatu is still very much alive in Brazilian culture. In 2006, a tribute was paid to him through the film Tapete Vermelho.
