  • Descrição: The mechanism and the kinetics of copper segregation to the surfaces of an Fe-Si-Al alloy with a range of copper contents were examined. Cold-rolled Fe-Si-Al alloys were resistively heated in ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) conditions in the temperature range from 50 deg C to 850 deg C. The vacuum chamber of the spectrometer was upgraded so that the temperature of the sample could be monitored with a spot-welded thermocouple. This enabled a temperature-measurement accuracy of plus/minus 1 deg C. Field-emission Auger electron spectroscopy was used in situ to study the surface segregation.
