  • Notas: In Catalonia, the rate of school failure among students with immigrant backgrounds doubles the one of their peers. Considering that the reading habit is a key driver for school success, the aim of this study is to investigate whether taking into account the language and culture of origin of these students when selecting bibliographic offer can have an impact on their reading habits and, consequently, the academic results of this group of students. In order to study the reading habits, a survey was carried out among ESO students at INS 9 in Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Two groups of students were set according to their usual language at home, and their results were compared. At the same time, an in-depth interview was conducted with the manager of the school library to find out whether the collection and reading policies in the school took into account the specific nature of this group. While the amount of reading does not diverge between the two groups, there are differences in their attitude towards reading and the interventions that would enhance it. Adapting the bibliographic offer to the student's level and interests, along with increasing the role of the school library in recommendations and social activities appears to be an incentive for change.
    A Catalunya, l’alumnat d’ESO pertanyent a famílies d’origen estranger pateix una taxa de fracàs escolar que duplica la dels seus companys. Considerant que l’hàbit lector és un factor determinant de l’èxit escolar, es pretén investigar si una oferta bibliogràfica que tingui en compte la seva llengua i cultura d’origen pot incidir en el seu hàbit lector i, en conseqüència, en els seus resultats acadèmics. Per estudiar l’hàbit lector, s’ha realitzat una enquesta entre l’alumnat d’ESO de l’INS 9 de Santa Coloma de Gramenet i s’han comparat els resultats establint dos grups d’alumnes en funció de la seva llengua habitual a la llar. Paral·lelament, s’ha realitzat una entrevista en profunditat a la responsable de la biblioteca del centre per conèixer si el fons de la biblioteca i les polítiques de lectura del centre tenen en compte l’especificitat d’aquest col·lectiu. Si bé la quantitat de lectura no divergeix entre els dos grups, sí que hi ha diferències pel que fa a la relació amb la lectura i en els factors que la potenciarien. Com a motor de canvi, es planteja l’adaptació de l’oferta bibliogràfica al nivell i interessos de l’alumnat, atorgant un paper central a la tasca prescriptora i social de la biblioteca escolar.
