  • Descrição: Dropwise condensation scatters light and makes the substrate look “milky”, while filmwise condensation leaves it transparent. Transmitted, scattered and reflected light contains much more useful information. This chapter outlines how visible and infra-red scattered and transmitted light by a condensing droplet pattern can reveal its statistical properties. Infra-red light matters because radiative cooling is at the origin of natural dew condensation and condensation modifies the substrate emissivity.
