  • Descrição: Xylose is an important molecule that can be used in the production of chemicals such as ethylene glycol and 1,2-propylene glycol. Experimental and theoretical information are fundamental for the development of conversion and separation processes. For the supply of solubility data, this work sought to study solid–liquid equilibrium of xylose in binary liquid solutions formed by water/ethylene glycol and water/1,2-propylene glycol in the temperature range between 293.15 and 323.15 K, covering the entire molar composition range of the binary solution. The Jouyban–Acree and NRTL models were applied in the correlation of experimental data, and the UNIFAC and ASOG models were applied in the prediction of experimental data. Xylose showed solubility in the pure components following the order water > ethylene glycol > 1,2-propylene glycol. Intermediate values of solubility are related to intermediate concentrations of the binary liquid mixture. The mathematical models were successfully applied, and new parameters of UNIFAC and ASOG are presented.
