  • Descrição: The dominant role of science-based technology in determining national productivity, power, & policy in the US is discussed. It is argued that education, scientific research, & science-based technological development are fundamentally interrelated. Education provides scientists & engineers, as well as technicians & lay practitioners who can integrate scientific knowledge into the domains of production, organization, & communication. Scientific advances have increasingly become the major catalyst of accelerating technological development, & such innovations radically transform social practice. It is concluded that national science & technology policy must focus on the nation's schools, the national system of research Us, & the high technology industries. Modified AA
