  • Descrição: The resilience and stiffness are fundamental properties in the evaluation of track mechanical behaviorand can be indicated through the track modulusthat requires in situmeasurementsof track deflections. The main objective of the paper is to present a methodology for track modulus determination based on a new Devicefor Measurementsof Displacements(DMD)used in situunder a dynamic approach. To demonstrate its feasibility and application as a support tool for maintenance management focusing in the structural conditions, a case study based on a heavy haul track in Brazil is presentedconsidering different structural profiles (new, recycled and degraded ballast). The results of the case study are presented in terms of basins of deflections referredto the typical wagons and ballast conditions. It showed thatthe device allowsto obtain the deflections and track modulus at different placesof the track components in aquick, efficient and economical procedure without affecting traffic. The deflection valueswere compared to the ones from an analytical modeldemonstratinga good correlationfor all ballast conditions. In general, it can be said that the DMD proved to be useful for daily activitiesand an efficienttool for the railway maintenance management
