Descrição: Simone Gatto, Kappellmeister of the Archducal Chapel in Graz, composed three Magnificats. One of them, Magnificat primi toni, uses the plainchant canticle tone. The usage of this plainchant form places Gatto’s Magnificat stylistically between his predecessor Annibale Padovano and Orlando di Lasso.
