  • Descrição: A Croatian translation of the opening chapter of the English-language volume Developments in Political Science: Report on the IPSA Montreal Conference, May 2008 prepared for the 21st annual convention of the International Political Science Association (IPSA), held in Santiago de Chile, Chile, in July 2009. The chapter summarizes & comments on five contributions delivered at the 20th International IPSA Conference in Montreal, 30 April to 2 May 2008, devoted to the theme "New Theoretical and Regional Viewpoints in International Political Science:" (1) Nathaniel Beck's (U of New York) discussion of the epistemological foundations & methodological questions of contemporary political science, (2) Takashi Inoguchi's (U of Tokyo) lecture on the state of the art of research in political theory, (3) John Higley's (U of Texas, Austin) contribution on political sociology & theory of elites, (4) Guy Peters's (U of Pittsburgh) lecture on public administration & public policies, & (5) Gunther Hellman's (U of Frankfurt) discussion on international relations. The synopsis is followed by concluding remarks on the incremental growth of politology as a field of scientific inquiry in the last decade of the 20th & the first decade of the 21st centuries; the emergence of new theoretical perspectives & methodological approaches enriching the discipline is pointed.
