  • Descrição: ABSTRACT Future training of agronomists will include concepts of control or modification of the environment, land‐use planning, agricultural pollution, use of the oceans for fresh water and food production, and international agronomy as well as traditional concepts. Training in these areas will create a need for new courses. If these courses are to be effective and challenging to the students, we must have professors who are qualified in each area and dedicated to effective teaching. New teaching methods should stimulate individual creativity rather than traditional recitation. Classroom work should permit student participation particularly as it relates to current literature in appropriate areas. The graduate curriculum should include courses designed to help prepare those students interested in teaching careers.
