  • Descrição: One indication for bone grafting the nasal dorsum is the foreshortened nose. It is characterized by a broad and flattened nasal dorsum and lack of nasal vertical dimension. The tip may be broad and underprojected or upturned with cephalic rotation. The causes of short nose include congenital and acquired deformities. Surgical treatment should provide nasal length, support and lining, reestablishing the height and projection of the nasal pyramid. The outer table of the calvarium, iliac crest, ribs, tibia, olecranum and greater trocanter have been used as an autologous source for bone grafts. Each site has specific characteristics. The present study shows the experience of using the ulnar crest graft as a site for autologous bone harvesting for the surgical correction of the foreshortened nose. Nine patients (6 women and 3 men), with the mean age of 34 years (18 to 50 years old) were operated, with the mean post operative follow up of 19 months (4 to 37 months). We conclude that the ulnar crest graft is simple to harvest, having the ideal shape for augmentation and reconstruction of the nasal dorsum. It has low post operative morbidity, pain and local dysfunction, and the final scar is inconspicuous
