  • Descrição: The good admin'or is seen as integrating many diverse technological considerations into a simple formulation for executive action for the benefit of society. The bad admin'or may fail for any of 3 reasons: (1) not eliciting appropriate replies from experts; (2) having secured information, not creating simple & persuasive decision; or (3) underestimating the pol'al component. In the field of sci, the admin'or can be described as a machine which integrates & transforms 2-way messages between sci & society into simple decisions, & which estimates probabilities in areas of ignorance. Suggestions for the educ of sci admin'ors who are not themselves working sci'ts are detailed. The admin'or is one of the chief channels for interaction between sci & society. Educ cannot equip him to make many of the decisions to be made, so that success in administration depends on skill in using other men's minds & in finding his way in areas of ignorance. These skills can be encouraged by certain kinds of instruction. ie. anaroaches to thought & action. E. Weiman.
