  • Description: Many times in his work, Theodor W. Adorno has questioned if philosophy hadn’t become obsolete with the scientific development and, if the answer to that were negative, which function would it have in the contemporary world, where particular sciences have taken over the contents that were previously detained by philosophy. In this paper, I start with an analysis of the texts “The actuality of philosophy”, “Why still philosophy” and of the book Negative Dialectics to pinpoint what Adorno considered to be the adequate philosophy for our times, namely, the critical theory of society.
    Ao longo de sua obra, Theodor W. Adorno questionou se a filosofia não teria se tornado obsoleta com o desenvolvimento científico e, caso a resposta fosse negativa, qual seria sua função no mundo contemporâneo, no qual as ciências particulares se apoderaram dos conteúdos que eram outrora os da filosofia. Neste artigo, a partir da análise dos textos “A atualidade da filosofia”, “Para que ainda a filosofia?” e do livro Dialética negativa, busco apresentar o projeto daquilo que Adorno considerou uma filosofia adequada aos nossos tempos, a saber, a teoria crítica da sociedade.
