  • Descrição: The weak reflection on academic theories and procedures of media criticism in Brazil demonstrates a first sign of life when we observe that, although sporadic, scientific publications about this issue compose a cumulative framework. In the media universe, television is the subject that causes the most different types of criticism (academic, journalistic and popular-social), especially in relation to its fictional programs, especially soap operas--there are only few studies on how to critique newscasts, sitcoms, sports, tv shows or reality shows. This study is preliminary as part of a larger research project on criteria or modalities of media criticism, inspired by the history of how film and literature criticism have been traditionally done.
