  • Descrição: People who experience psychosis have a wide range of difficulties and the Open Dialogue approach should therefore be need-adapted. In the Helsinki early psychosis service described in this chapter, the Open Dialogue approach involves a case-specific team that offers network meetings throughout. There is early evaluation and identification of cognitive difficulties that interfere with social and occupational functioning. Individual and group-based cognitive remediation are offered for cognitive rehabilitation. Multifamily groups and CBT are amongst the other need-adapted interventions available. People who experience psychosis have a wide range of difficulties and the Open Dialogue approach should therefore be need-adapted. In the Helsinki early psychosis service described in this chapter, the Open Dialogue approach involves a case-specific team that offers network meetings throughout. The Early Psychosis Centre (EPC), of the Department of Psychiatry within Helsinki University Hospital, provides an example of a modern variation of need-adapted care, where OD is a platform for a variety of treatment choices, according to current needs. A multidisciplinary case-specific team evaluates the person's functioning and neurocognitive, negative and other clinical symptoms. Individual and group-based cognitive remediation (CRT) is offered for cognitive rehabilitation. Early psychosis interventions should be targeted to the large variety of differences between people experiencing psychosis, including negative symptoms, defects in social functioning, and cognitive problems, besides overt positive psychotic symptoms.
