Descrição: Participation and co-creation methods constitute a vehicle for the development of sustainable and needs-based social and health care innovations. The practical implementation of the methods can however be challenging and some groups are many times excluded from co-creation processes. At the Department of caring science at Åbo Akademi University, co-creation methods have been applied in several projects and the practical implementation of the methods is described in this article. In presenting the method application, focus was placed on the degree of participation of the co-creating partners in different project phases. The project experiences illustrate the added value of the methods in relation to the generated products and services, but also challenges in implementing co-creation methods. The experiences contribute to the growing knowledge field regarding the expedient and ethical application of co-creation methods.
