  • Descrição: The genus Actinocythereis commonly occurs in the lower Miocene sediments of Kachchh, Saurashtra and Kerala basins. Among these basins, the genus thrives well in Kachchh basin, where it is represented by five species, including two new subspecies: Actinocythereis gujaratensis (Tewari and Tandon) karanpurensis n. subsp. and Actinocythereis vinjhanensis (Tewari and Tandon) lakhpatensis n. subsp., reported in this study. A. gujaratensis Tewari and Tandon, A. tumefaciens (Lyubimova and Guha) and A. vinjhanensis (Tewari and Tandon) have been previously described. The systematics along with paleoecological data of the genus presented.
