Descrição: The focus of this report is the concept of the separation of church & state. The concept is analyzed & compared from the European as well as the US perspective since it has gradually evolved in opposite directions. The separation, paradoxically, has generated interference of religion in the political world. Solid relations between political power & religion have changed the course of history. At this important junction, the impact of such relations on past & present American & European societies should not be ignored, but seriously reconsidered in order to reach a common solution to the problem of international terrorism.
