Descrição: We construct nuclear wave functions from alpha clusters and some additional valence nucleons, and allow the inter-cluster distance to change and one alpha to dissolve from the (0s)4 structure as a result of the nuclear interaction. The change of the inter-cluster distance and the dissolution of the alpha particle can be interpreted as resulting from the competition of the 'shell model' and 'cluster model'. We demonstrate this competition through a few parameters.
