  • Descrição: Hoyt-Oliver bids goodbye as Editor in-Chief of the journal. Here, she recounts starting her tenure as Editor-in-Chief in May of 2019. The first issue published under her leadership was the Spring 2020 special issue on Racial Reconciliation. During her three years as Editor, many events have rocked both the US and the world. People have witnessed disputes about racism, education, and global warming and seen increasing divisions within congregations. The impact of the pandemic on families, churches, and communities continues to play out in the lives of so many they know and so many they serve. Throughout these years, the conversation and witness of their contributors (our authors, reviewers, the editors of special issues, the Assistant Editors), and the production staff (Copy Editor David Fritz and layout guru Matt Wolfer) have provided grace and support. This has made her work so pleasurable. As Editor, she has attempted to keep all Christian social workers in mind when selecting articles for publication. They may be of one mind and spirit in Christ, but their life experiences, and interactions with God often lead them to different understandings about how best to practice their profession.
