Descrição: The dependence of a number of magnetic properties and hardness of four heats of 40Kh-grade steel (0.37-0.41 C, 0.27-0.30 Si, 0.55-0.78 Mn, 0.80-1.03 Cr, 0.013-0.020 phosphorus, 0.010-0.028 sulphur and 0-0.20% Cu) quenched in media with temperatures of 20-280 deg C on tempering temperature in the range from room temperature to 600 deg C has been investigated. The parameter for non-destructive hardness measurement recommended is relaxation magnetisation. Results of testing a MS-2 magnetic structure-evaluating instrument on individual forms of components are presented and demonstrate its suitability. Graphs. 16 ref.--S.K.
