Successful applicants will be expected to work on a specic research project that is of interest to members of the Sydney Centre for the Foundations of Science. Since one of the aims of the Sydney Centre for the Foundations of Science is to strengthen international links in history and philosophy of science, expressions of interest from researchers outside Australia are particular encouraged. Suggested topics include civil society initiatives, earth democracy, new interpretations and enforcement mechanisms for human rights, reclaiming the commons, security council and United Nations reforms, world environmental organization, cultural and religious rights in international law, and non-regression principles, corporate social and environmental responsibility, reforming the monetary system, ways to achieve sustainable population levels, equity and access to water and food, new forms of sustainable agriculture, environmental refugees, how environmental ethics can make a practical difference, 123 506 G. Since 1988, at the XVIII the World Congress of Philosophy, the sessions of the International Society for Value Inquiry have been among of the most attended society sessions at the World Congresses of Philosophy.
