  • Descrição: Objetivo: Previous data from our laboratory have shown that the vascular adaptive response to stress of young and adult female rats is characterized by an endothelial dependent hyporreactivity to noradrenaline (NA). Moreover, the intrauterine stress exposure (IUS) did not alter the vascular reactivity of female pups at early and late stages of life. Thus, it was investigated the role of acute stress (AS) on the vascular reactivity of young and adult female pups previously exposed to stress during intrauterine life. Métodos e Resultados: Curves to NA were obtained in aorta, with (+E) and without (-E) endothelium, of non-stressed (NS) and AS (2-h immobilization) female rats (6- and 14- week-old), previously submitted to IUS (1-h immobilization during pregnancy days 12-19) or not (normal). AS determined endotheliumdependent hyporreactivity to NA of aorta from normal rats at both ages. The IUS did not alter the vascular adaptive response to stress observed in normal rats at both ages. Maximum response (g of tension): 6-week-old: [+E normal/NS: 3.73 ± 0.17, IUS/NS 3.75 ± 0.20; -E normal/NS: 5.40 ± 0.19, IUS/NS 5.30 ± 0.20; +E normal/AS: 2.38 ± 0.18*, IUS/AS: 2.15 ± 0.25*; -E normal/AS: 5.02 ± 0.08; IUS/AS: 5,31 ± 0,10]; 14-week-old: [+E normal/NS: 5.12 ± 0.15, IUS/NS 5.06 ± 0.13; -E normal/NS: 6.65 ± 0.13, IUS/NS 6.40 ± 0.21; +E normal/AS: 3.33 ± 0.14*, IUS/AS: 3.28 ± 0.14*; -E normal/AS: 6.76 ± 0.20, IUS/AS: 6.46 ± 0.24]; n = 6 - 7, *P > 0.05 related to the
respective normal/NS or IUS/NS group. The reactivity of aorta -E was not altered by the different procedures. Conclusões: The cardiovascular adaptive response to AS was not vulnerable to stress exposure during the intrauterine life.
